APRICUS BIOSCIENCES SHAREHOLDER NOTICE: VICE PRESIDENT EDWARD COX INTERVIEWED ON ONEMEDPLAC
-
OneMedPlace, a research and media organization that finds promising companies and technologies, interviewed Edward Cox, Vice President of Corporate Development & Investor Relations for Apricus Biosciences, Inc (Nasdaq:APRI) (www.apricusbio.com). The interview, which aired on April 26, 2012, can be heard at http://www.onemedplace.com/onemedtv/play.php?vid=1978.
In the interview, Mr. Cox described how Apricus Biosciences is making the "profound" switch from a drug development company to a full-fledged pharmaceutical company with products on the market and in the hands of patients.
For example, Mr. Cox explained, Apricus' lead product is Vitaros®, a drug for erectile dysfunction, which has been approved for sale in Canada. Apricus and its partner Abbott Laboratories expect to launch the drug in Canada this year, he said. While three drugs are already in the market for erectile dysfunction, Vitaros® offers hope for men for whom the existing drugs aren't safe or effective.
Mr. Cox also described Apricus' core NexACT® drug delivery technology. By attaching drugs to Apricus' proprietary NexACT® molecule that opens up the tight junctions between cells, it is possible to deliver many types of drugs through the skin. Mr. Cox explained how that technology has enabled Apricus to have a rich pipeline of products, in addition to Vitaros®. For example, Apricus' Femprox®, if approved, would be the first product on the market for female sexual arousal disorder.
For many of its products, Apricus is partnering with companies that already have effective sales forces, Mr. Cox added. But for some products and in some markets, the company may consider selling its drugs directly to patients.
